Sorry, which one of the 3 I mentioned is best for reception?īest tuner I have ever used, and yes I have used all the tuners you mentioned. "A container of ashes might one day be thrown from the sky, which could burn the land and boil the oceans." "Near the day of Purification, there will be cobwebs spun back and forth in the sky." "If we dig precious things from the land, we will invite disaster." "Good heavens, Miss Sakamoto! You're beautiful!" I guess another question is, how does the HDHomeRun compare to the latest Hybrid (again, only for tuner performance, I know the feature differences) - I know they make a big deal in the advertising, "revolutionary Xceive 5000 silicon tuner and 6th generation demodulator technology for improved reception." Some cable companies and satellite providers either charge a significant amount or refuse to rent their HD PVR systems. With HD here, finding a way to record programming from broadcast (both cable and antenna) has posed a problem. In my experience the TR-40 is noticeably more better relative to the first-gen Hybrid. SilconDust’s HDHomeRun combined with Elgato’s EyeTV results in an HD news recorder and logger. With EyeTV you have options for commercial skipping. My Elgato Hybrids always show quality of 100 and strength of 75 to 85. The one concern I have is the signal quality and strength reading that EyeTV is reporting. Recordings seem good, though I haven't looked long or closely yet. Installation was easy and I had it working in no time. SimpleTV and Tablo are the easier to use solutions and are best suited for less tech savvy people. I just bought the new version of the HDHomerun Dual. My only frame of reference here is the Dish TR-40 box and the original (non-QAM, etc.) Hybrid stick. EyeTV and HDHomerun are the only ones with add-ons for auto-commercial skipping (MCE Buddy and others). I'm interested in not just sensitivity but multipath rejection as well.

BGnR - been meaning to ask you how the tuner performance is and what you may have compared it to in that regard. EyeTV is designed to work with standard MPEG-2 Transport Streams, as broadcast in the US, which the HDHomeRun Dual or HDHomeRun Connect provides.
